Can they go in a freshwater fish tank?

I put glass in my tanks. But make sure they are metal free. If you see sparkle I would leave it out.

I used them as a substrate for raising Danios for over a decade. I used small marbles as my substrate... When the Danios would get eaten is when they could push the marble up and join their breathern.
