Minnows??

Ok I have a "natural pond" tank set up and collected some minnows from my pond, they all all the same species but look just like gray guppies? Are these fish related or just coincidentally similar?

Monster fish grow from "minnows" if you don't know what your looking at, so be careful.

sound like gambusia, mosquitofish. They are very similar, but not super closely related.

I'm a marine bio major so I know I'm looking at full adult fish, I also know that all are the same species and body plan and structure are almost identical to guppies, they aren't "monster" fish or fry, some are obviously pregnant, I'm going with mosquito fish, livebearers?

yep they are livebearers. They are probably the most common thing I see in ditches, creeks, and swamps.

Well they dropped their babies and promptly died all thirty of them were floating or stuck on the filter intake come morning, the babies are everywhere though probably 100+. I mean I expected some casualties but 100%? That seems crazy
