Yesterday I bought a pineapple swordtail from Petco for my 10g. This morning, there was no trace of him. Tankmates are a dwarf guorami, 1 bloodfin tetra, 1 cory, 2 platy's. I looked all around the tank, he didn't jump out. Could he be buried in the substrate? I don't know. I doubt he was eaten. Any ideas?

The tank is a year and a half old. The next newest fish was one of the platy's which has been in there for about 2 months w/o issue. ammonia, ites/ates are fine. I have fairly acidic water though. (if any of that makes a difference)

When did you test your water last?

If it's been a while, try testing it again. If the fish is dead and decaying in your tank, you will see an ammonia spike.

I suppose it could have died and been eaten. Look around for a carcase.

Sometimes, fish just dissapear, and you never do find out what happens.

Good luck
