Most unique freshwater fish. ???

One of the lfs here in AZ has one for sale for $189.00 and it's about the same size as the one in the picture. He's been there for several months now. If I had a 120 gal plus tank, I would definetly buy him. I've been back a few times just to look at him......truely a remarkable fish......his teeth are huge!!
 
well, the most unique fish would either go to the bichirs, or lungfish, but if you wanted a fish that could pass as a saltwater fish, I would say either the peacock cichlids, or even a blue jack dempsey

im not an expert on fish though lol, so theres probably another fish that resembles a salt water fish more than an african cichlid or gourami
 
Lake Malawi African Rift Lake Cichilds... both of these are Mbunas by the
way..

Well I'm not well educated on different fish but I love my little gold dojo loaches. They look like baby eels and are so much fun to watch.

Aspedinidae
Protopteridae

For 'pretty enough to be marine':

Many of the Mbuna cichlids
Many killiefish (see pic)
