Moving my tank

you know i would like to hear more ideas here - i am going to college and i assume it will be like 7 1/2 hour drive - then another 2 hours until i can get water in the tank

will i be able to use my existing filter to simply fill up the tank with water and then put the fish in right away

the tank is on the back burners in everyone's eyes but mine
 
I just posted this in another thread (2 day move thread)...

I helped a friend move from Baltimore to Pittsburgh and we used a DC to AC converter to run a filter and heater on the way back. All the fish are still alive and doing well, 2 years later.
