My beta fish died sometime today and I’m not sure why

My beta was never the same after the female beta died. He was so depressed and sad so when he moved in with my goldfish I had never seen him happier. But he started to sleep more and hangout at the bottom of the tank. Maybe it was the temp of the tank? I don’t know. But he lived in there for almost six months.

Sorry to hear about your loss. How old was he? If he was older than 2, it could have just been old age. If you got him from a franchise LFS, he probably had a lower life expectancy.

What was the temp of the tank? Not a good idea to mix tropical fish with cold water fish.

He could have been I got him from my sister. When she gave up fish keeping.
