Hi everyone!
I was wondering if anyone can tell me what is this!
Recently i found these white spots on several of my rocks!
I tried to scratch them of with my finger and they didn't move, crush, smur, or anything. More recently i saw that some of the spots have disappeared leaving a small white rim where they used to be!
I have a 75g freshwater community tank. Fish, sand, snails, clams, plants.
I have them all!
Let me know what you think!

Ok, i sent a picture on this post but i can't see it!
So i don't know how to describe the spots any better.

How do I make my photo for everyone to see on this post?

download aquarium advice on your phone. It's much easier to add the pic

So this is snail eggs. I didn't had none to the tank. I think they came with the plants. Any idea how to tell what species they are? How can I tell them apart?

Very strange. Your description of them sounds exactly like nerite eggs. They are very hard, white ovals and they break open and leave just a "shell" behind. But nerites aren't normally hitch hikers. Are you able to get a picture of the snails?

I'll see if I can find one.

I can't post the photo. There's no option for that.

Got it. I think he's an olive. I also think that I might have another species. For what I've read these can't breed in freshwater and I have a lot of really tiny snails.

Those look like nerites to me.. You didn't purchase them and purposely put them in your tank?

My daughter brought them from school a month ago. I did forgot about it. I thought they came from the plants.

So it's an olive nerite. They don't reproduce in freshwater conditions. That means that all the small ones that I see in the tank are plagues. I should by assassin's but they will kill the nerites also. Any advice?

Nerites aren't considered pest snails, most people like them because they are such awesome algae eaters and will not overpopulate your tank. If you don't want them you could probably sell them for a few bucks each. My LFS sells them for about $3 each.

I want them. I don't want the others that I see in the aquarium.

Oh ok! Well I keep assassin snails with my nerites and the assassin does not bother them, it only eats the ramshorn and pond snails. Although all my nerites are twice as large as the assassin so I'm not sure if it would eat smaller ones.

Nice tip. Thanks.
