Hey guys i want to create a 15 gallon aquarium with shrimps, and a few nano fish. Odyssea Dual Pro T5 2x24 for the lights, but i dont know which filter should i use. A canister filter is too pricey for me. What do u suggest? I dont want the baby shrimps to get sucked in the filter. Help me out :D

I use a penguin 200 on a 10 gallon ---
may be overkill --- but it keeps it clean !

sponge over intake will be needed - so no baby shrimpettes get sucked up

Then how much light is optimal for a 15 gal - 54 liter tank?

For planted tank what you planned for lighting is ok, but need special care. I run 2x39W T5HO on my 29g, and pressurized CO2 and plants grow HUGE. Without CO2 I get uncontrollables algae.

If it's topless tank, it mean more PAR from light, so you need carbon dosing for sure.

It really depends on the type of plants you plan. If you plan plastic plants, then just buy a little kit with a single T8 and HOB filter...

For highlight tanks you need a automatic light timer too to avoid green water or algae.
