I just noticed my neon tetra looks like this. What could this be? I have had one bloated like this that I got from the store that way and it ended up dying...

Sorry that the pictures are not that great it's the best I can do with my phone.

Does he seems to float or try to swim at bottom to keep his level after he eats?

Give it a chance, wait to see if he dies...

Yeah, I looked today and I cant find him anywhere. That leaves me to believe he did indeed die. All of my fish are perfectly healthy... Except I keep losing neons. Am I doing something wrong? Water tests out fine. Tank may be a tiny bit overstocked but otherwise they are all in good health with weekly water changes and a good filter for up to 70 gal on just a 36 gal tank.

I started out with 10 neons, lost one the second day returned it to the store, lost another one not too long ago and now this one. Hmm.

Neons and cardinals are sensitives fishs, and sometime they don't work in a tank... Maybe a disease from the store that only affect paracheirodons...

Neons used to be reasonably hardy, before they were mass-bred (and inbred) in captivity. If you can get your hands on Green Neons, similar species that is only wild-caught these days, you might have better luck with them.

Thanks. Yeah I feel like they are really sensitive. They are the only fish I've had that has died on me. All of my others are perfectly healthy. Maybe I just got a bad batch. If anything else bad happens I'm just not going to replace them if they die off...

Like everyone has said they are very sensitive. Seems like they're just getting worse and worse...
