New Aquarium and a Little Giant pump

A friend gave me a 90 gallon aquarium that he wasn't using(!) that included a Magnum 350 and a wet/dry filter system that is driven using a Little Giant in-line pump (4-MDQX-SC).
Over the last month, I have been getting the necessary hard goods to get it all up and running for freshwater.
I tried starting up the little giant pump, and I don't think it is working right. When power is applied, I can hear the motor hum, but the impeller doesn't turn. I pulled the impeller assembly apart and cleaned it out, but it still didn't turn when everything was put back together.
Does anyone know what may be wrong? If it needs repair, I'm not sure where to go to get it fixed, so any help would be appreciated.

make sure there's no air trapped in the pump. it needs to be completely wet inside for the impeller to spin properly.

I know this sounds weird.. but stick a scredriver in the hole where the impellor goes, dont touch the sides or the bottom. If you can feel the magnets pulling the screwdriver, the motor works OK, there is either air in there, or the impellor could be bent.. etc etc...
