New fish ideas?

Recently had a betta or siamese fighter as a "feature" sort of fish, he was the only one in the tank, the biggest and stood out. He died recently and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what type of fish i could replace him with, bearing in mind it is only 90 litres or 25 gallons so nothing massive.

Some type of gourami. Or maybe a pair of rams of some sort. If it's a well established tank some German blue rams are really nice looking fish!! What the rest of your stock???

Well i have neon tetras, black phantoms, penguins and guppies. I had some Gouramis, and they all got that gourami disease thing, so i think there might be something in the tank that doesn't agree with Gouramis. I am really after a sole fish, rather than a school. Just something a little intresting
