Just on a whim, me and my wife decided we were going to start a new project. Really just did this more for learning because I'm seriously thinking about doing something like this on a larger scale (like in my 150g). Its definitely not perfect, big, or high tech, but I like it so far. My plan is to use my eheim 2224 that's been in the closet for a while as a filter. I've got about $20 invested in this, so its definitely not costly.

I'm all ears for suggestions on what to put in this thing. I'm almost sure that there's no fish going in here, but maybe shrimp? My wife is wanting a frog of some sort, so we may go that route as well. I've never dipped in to this side of things, so I'm a total noob. Any suggestions?

As far as the setup goes, I'm open to suggestions as well. Not a whole lot I can do as far as moving the rocks or lowering the left side any.

Here's one of my favorite method for cleaning substrate... throw it in, let it soak, rinse, repeat...

And everybody's favorite... those plants they sell for aquariums that aren't really aquatic :)

So I still have some work to do on it. I made the mistake of forgetting that the foam actually expands, so you can see it on the bottom in the front... I'm thinking some black paint might do the trick. I plan on planting tonight, we'll see ;)

I'm not sure yet... I will say that I filled the tank and let it sit full of water overnight and it's still full... that was a concern of mine. I couldn't remember why it was empty ;)

Is that foam okay in tanks with water?

You know what I would get? A bigger tank and a bearded dragon. LOL ;)

I am such a good helper.

Yeah, everything I've seen says its completely inert. And lets not even talk about bigger tanks... I've been on a mission to find a 29g tank. My wife was wanting to go to meijer on saturday afternoon but I kept pushing it off. I wanted to go look for a 29g tank. Petsmart had one for about $90, and I really didn't want to spend that much. We decided to do this in that little 10g. Went to meijer yesterday, they have a 29g for $30! Ugh :(

Looking good so far. Looks like it could be suitable for newts. ;)

Ok, well scratch this whole idea... my wife called me when I got to work this morning thinking she heard somebody knocking on a window. She went in to the kitchen and the floor was wet. Turns out, the tank was cracked. Ugh. Oh well :(

Ouch. Sorry to hear that man. :(

Taking a trip by Meijer after work?
