Ok done the sponge hob hybrid for the breeder qt tank. Next, I'm thinking of installing 2 more t5ho 24w tubes. However to do so I'll have to change filter as thestock one is designed to sit in the hood of the tank, right where I want to put the lights. Tank is 160L / 42gal bowfront. Is the Eheim Classic 2213 suitable?

Two more tubes would bring it up to above 3WPG.

Ok pics update time. Added a couple more plants. I intend to install about 48W of t5ho ~6700k in the back, where you can see the filter currently is (pic below). In order to do this I'll have to change to an external cannister filter since I have my doubts about this one's ability to contain water...

Some plants in the back look sick. I'm thinking it's likely to be light levels are too low. There's a shadow caused by the filter box, putting the plants in the back in some shade compared to at the front.

Advice?

Question: I put a couple of these plants in not too long ago and 2 of them (the 2 under the most light) have started growing red bits, with bright-coloured parts at the center of each red arrangement. What is it? Looks like this:

Apologies for poor quality photography.

Ok here's the second part of tonight's update.
I have installed a 2nd hand filter, a fluval 405 ($110AU), increased the lighting to 3wpg, and added a co2 injection system. Pics below.

Atomiclord
Just my 2 cents regarding the 2213, I've had the 2215 for over 15 years now and has been in storage for 10 of those years and recently put back into service, never once have i ever had a problem with it. The only thing i had to do was change the hoses and clean it up. After that i installed into tank, filled it and plugged it in, it still runs as good as the 1st day i got, extremely quiet not to mention it does an awesome job of keeping the tank clean and clear.
You can't go wrong with an Eheim product. By the way, beautiful tank.

I was going to get an eheim but the deal on the fluval was too good. Comes to approx US$75.
Good luck with it, Fluval was the reason why I bought the Eheim, but then again that was 15 or so years ago. It's probably a much better product now.

Ok time for a pics update. I've now rescued about 20 guppies so there's gonna be a ton of babies soon. The baby danios are doing fine, and I believe one of my cherry shrimp is carrying eggs!

Also put in those lights I ordered on ebay:

Any thoughts?

Oh and the red lights aren't that bright I just used a lengthy exposure. You have to sit there until your eyes adjust properly. So far the nocturnals (a whiptail, baby BGK, and some khulis) don't seem to mind at all and go about their business. So I can finally see them :)
