I had a bit of a time with my AquaClear 110, which are known for being the quietest filters on the market as far as hang on backs. So much so that I sent the first one back and got a replacement. The replacement was still a little noisy, but after a month of running it is much quieter now. I think if nothing is in the impeller causing the noise then there's a good chance it will settle and quieten down.
