Noisy internal filter

I bought a 32g tank a few weeks ago and it came with an internal water folter.
This is my first filter and tank and im not sure how loud these units are meant to be.

I have tried submerging the filter completely, and also a little above waterr level, bit it just keeps making a kind of "ticking" noise.
Is this normal, or should i tale it back?
Below is a link to the exact unit type i have;

The ticking is not normal but first try to take the impeller out to clear possibly debris but if the problem continues I would suggest taking it back.

I opened it up( took 2 filter covers off- unit disembles into 3 pieces)... But it seems to be the unit does not allow the empeller to be removed, seems to be a fixed unit. ( no debris was noticed)... Might have to take it back
