Not sure if my fish is okay

I have a yellow glow fish. I’ve had it for a year with 2 other fish in a 8 gallon tank. Recently I got 1 more glow fish which sadly died within a week. I have just noticed that it had a little black thing on it and under him is like green. I changed his food from omega one super color flakes to glo fish special flake food. I like my fish a lot and am a bit worried for it.

The black spot looks like ammonia burn maybe... Do you have a way to measure your water parameters?
