Not sure what's going on

Mk, my setup is a 55 gal. With artificial plants, penguin bio wheel 350 filter, tetra 200 watt heater (temps stay around 76-78)

Fish
9 zebra Danios
1 opaline gourami
2 swordtails (1m 1f)
2 fire tail platys (both female)

The problem is, every time I treat the tank with tetra ick guard tablets this weird white stringy substance grows all over the place. When I treat with the tabs I remove the filters which is what the guy at the pet store recommended, when I put the filters back in it clears up in like a day or two. Anyone else have this happen or know what's up? Can't really find anything informative from google

Ok sorry, but I was wrong about the ick tabs as well. They're not tetra ick guard, they're jungle brand ick clear fizz tabs
