I found what I think is some type of oak driftwood at the Bogue Chitto state park(in Louisiana) last weekend. I cleaned, boiled, cleaned, and boiled again and I'm certain all the tannins are out. My only concern is its a softer wood. Any chance it's going to be bad for the tank? I've never really heard of any one using oak driftwood.....

Was it found in water? Oak is a hardwood, and it should work as driftwood. You just have to make sure it was properly turned into driftwood and not just a log.

It was found it water but its not as hard as my other peices of drift wood. It may just be a log. If i put it in my tank what could happen?

If its isn't driftwood, it would eventually rot, probably releasing ammonia as well as breaking up.
