I have 2 gold dust mollies, 2 platies (will get more soon), and 5 emerald corydora catfish.

I think one of my mollies is trying to be accepted / school with the catfish. Overnight it goes inside the castle decoration with one of the catfish and they'll both stay in there sleeping in for about up to 30 minutes after I turn on the aquarium light in the morning. Now this same molly hangs around the catfish all the time.

I noticed the other gold dust molly chasing this molly a lot lately when it's not around the catfish.

Anyone else experience this strange behavior among fish?

When social fish are kept in low numbers, issues can manifest in different ways, or you may see no issues at all. Every tank and every individual fish is different.

You may see a fish try and associate with other species and try and "make the best of it". You may see a fish become overly aggressive or take out all its aggression on a particular individual.
