On frozen food--

Apparently my badis and kuhliis only eat fresh food, so I bought some frozen cubes of tubifex worms and some sort of frozen "Lunchbox" with assorted stuff. The box says to just drop a cube in, is this true?

With frozen food arent you supposed to scoop out some tank water into a cup and put the cube in that until it melts and dump it in?

Yes, but my fish don't seem to mind if I just drop it in.

I place a cube in a brine shrimp net and run tap water over it. Frozen foods can easily (and quickly) foul the water: rinsing it first helps remove most of the excess organic material that leads to water fouling. I have had fish in the past that don't find still-frozen food appetizing, so rinsing also helps take care of that, as well.

I thaw mine in a net, too - though I have tossed in a cube when I was in a hurry. For smallish fish they just ate the bits as they thawed and floated off, but larger fish will definitely try to chow down on the frozen wad - I can't imagine that would be good.

If you put it in a cup with tank water, warn any house mates - frozen fish food seems to totally gross out my family - go figure

I fed them for the first time yesterday, the danios went nuts!! I thawed it out for a bit, but there was still a cube left. I had to leave it in overnight for the kuhliis, and removed the bit that was left in the morning.
