Ornament Starting To Obtain Brown Patches ...

OK, I have a barrel ruin ornament in my tank, which is particularly popular with my two ClownLoaches and Red Tail Shark. The outside of it has recently started to get a lot of brown patches on it -

I'm just wondering - is this algae and could it be anything to do with the cause of the ClownLoach's whitespot ?
I'm not sure whether to remove it or not, as it's very popular, but I don't want it to harm my aquarium.

Opinions appreciated !

It's just brown algae, IMO. It has nothing to do with the Ich that your fish have. Just wipe it off, it should come right off very easily.

OK thanks. I originally thought that, but didn't want to clean straight away, just in case it was beneficial in some way.

Will report back if there is more problems.
