Pakistani loach being kept in poor conditions

Hi

I've been to the local pet store and there keeping a Pakistani loach in a display tank and they refuse to sell this beautiful fish I have no problem with this but they are keeping it on large rough gravel and with no other loaches isn't this completely wrong what surroundings should it be in I want them to sort this for this beautiful fish
