Would it be ok to keep 3 of them 1 male 2 female in an unplanted tank till it gets planted? my lfs has a trio that are very nice fish that i would like to get. its a 75 gallon, I dont have any substrate right now in it but theres large driftwood and rocks in the tank.

That should be fine in a 75 gallon theoretically. And should work out if the lfs has the trio in a tank together already.

I think it would be fine. It's when there are two males that there might be an issue. However, Pearls are more peaceful (generally) than most Gourami. Since they are labyrinth fish, oxygenation of the water might be less critical than other fish.

I would not put them in your tank until it is fully cycled. Even if you miss the deal of the century on price... there will always be more purchase opportunities in the future.
