Alright so for my freshwater tank, I've always used tap water. Out of the tap, the pH is 8.0. We have a "descaler" on the house because of all the hard water marks it leaves in our showers, sinks, etc. The dKH
out of the tap is 7. What I find most interesting, is that the RODI
unit I use for my saltwater tank reads 4 ppm
. Yes, only 4 PPM
! With it being extremely low, how can my water be this "hard". I have a feeling that it's extremely high in calcium content but low in minerals, toxins, and everything else that make up TDS
. This would also explain why the KH
is so high and I can't adjust my pH levels. Thoughts??? I'm at a loss.
PS- 4 ppm
was before adding the "descaler" onto the plumbing.
