My daughter has a 7 week old 10 gallon tank with 2 platy's, 6 neons and 6 glo-lite tetras. Current ph is 6.8. Ammonia is 0, nitrites 0, nitrates at about 5ppm. The ph seems to creep up daily to about 7.4. I've been bringing it down with a single dose of ph down ever 1 - 2 days. What can be causing the daily rise of ph? Any suggestions on how to keep it stable?

PH meds are dangerous. They cause PH to fluctuate WAY to dramatically, and are only going to hurt your fish. Driftwood is a good NATURAL way to lower PH, but almost all fish can easily adjust to PH. Even the most sensitive of fish.

Yep, a pH of 7.4 is perfectly fine for your fish. Changing pH is a complex process usually, and products like pH down tend to only cause temporary changes like you are seeing. Having a stable pH is much more important for your fish then the actual pH value. So just leave your water as is and don't use pH down anymore.
