A friend sent me this picture but didn't know anything about it. I don't know it's real name but it does look like a knife fish. Does anyone have one? How big do they get and where did you find it? Behavior, food, tankmates? I'm just curious. Any links to info pages would be great. Thanks!

The specimen depicted is, in all certainty, an Orthosternarchus tamandua.

See this link for an assortment of images and hobbyist anecdotes.

Rare, nocturnal, finicky, hard to get off of live foods, and I would keep them by themselves, if only to avoid injury to a fish that undoubtedly would run in the $100+ department.

Looks very similar to the Aba Aba, which is even a more bad ass fish. Aba Aba's have a long dorsal instead, and it looks so freakin' sweet. They become monsters like the White Knife though.
