I sounds like nutrient deficiencies. You said it came unrooted so what I would do is take it out of the substrate, trim off the decaying parts, then float it until some roots develop before planting it again.

The API Leaf Zone has potassium and iron which is good but you also need to pick up something like Seachem Flourish Comprehensive which has a larger variety of nutrients in it. Be sure to use them as directed.
 
So i just float them at the top? One of the wisteria had roots so i planted it...

This is what the water wisteria looks like floated. The roots will reach all the way to the bottom or attach itself to something along the way.

The wisteria is the one on the right, growing roots from the nodes. It'll grow from the bottom too, but more so when planted in a plant substrate or close to a root tab.
