Can anyone ID these plants for me? They came from a small creek in Kentucky. That's about all I know about them.
Can they be used in an aquarium?
 
Well looking at the photos the plants look a lot like terrestrial grass. You said you found them in a creek, were they found close to shore or farther out and has that water shed been getting some rain lately?
 
Looking through Kentucky's fish and wildlife website, and I found this

And I quote, Mud Plantain is grass-like plant with thin branching dark-green stems and alternate leaves. It can grow up to 6 feet long and can form floating colonies. Flowers rise above the surface and are bright yellow and star-shaped with 6 narrow petals.

Did the plants look like this when you found them?

That looks about right. I was originally thinking Mud Plantain, but I wanted a second opinion.
