Planting low low tech

Its been a long time since I have had live plants in my aquarium as keeping cichlids plants become play toys I have recently added java fern. I currently have no co2 running and as my oscar killed my t5 light unit I'm now running a CFL 24w 7500k bulb as I know this is very low in light not sure if there is anything that will grow in my aquarium or if I should just go fake all the way 😂.... thoughts anyone also added photos as not sure about the ferns

Hello Al...

Keeping aggressive fish, just means you need to keep tougher plants. Java fern is good. Any of the varieties of Anubias and Amazon sword will also work. These require low light and though naturally slow growing will stand up to the fish as long as you have them well planted. I plant these in pea sized gravel and place small to medium sized rocks over the roots to make sure the fish can't dig up the plants.
