Hiya
I have a 75 gall malawi cichlid tank that sits across from 3 huge bay windows ,which of course means that the tank is covered in algae. I'm not a big fan of large plecs (they totally gross me out) so I put in a lovely wee clown plec. I now know that they eat more of the wood than they do the algae so i would like some some advice on a new kind of plec. Do any of the smaller ones, like the bristlenosed or rubber lipped, eat enough algae to clean up a 75 gall or do I have to get a larger species? Also, here's a stupid question-can you have more than one species of plec in a tank?

Thanks very much

You can have more than one species of pleco together. A BN eats more algae per inch than just about any type commonly available IME. I would caution against keeping them in an African setup though.... I've seen quite a few one eyed or blind plecos because of attacks in rift lake setups.
