Pleco question

Hi, questions for pleco people..

I purchased a 'Fineline' pleco from local pet shop, is Fineline an actual variety of pleco so is there an L number for it? Or is Fineline just a made up name by the pet store? He is growing amazingly fast.

Is it normal for them to get faded areas over their body or could it be poor breeding or genetics?

I have no idea if it’s made up or not. A quick search says lots of places sell a sailfin as a ‘fine line’ pleco. If that’s the case, it’s going to get big! Which makes sense if it’s growing at a good rate

I know my bristlenose pleco (l107?) have gone through a few Colour changes over the last couple months I’ve had them (bought as juveniles). I don’t think I’d get too worried about the faded colouring if it’s eating good and no other signs of distress.

If it is actually a sailfin, they average roughly 40cm
