Plecos and Sand?

Can Plecos go with sand as a substrate? I'm getting a new tank and wanted to know if there would be any issues.

I have a bristlenose pleco with sand and have no issues

Nope, no ossues. They do tend to dig though.

They probably prefer it, they do excavate though.. if it's fine sand keep filter intakes a few inches off bottom
