Polypterus help

I would like to know of a bicher that is somewhat common, but stays at a relatively small size. say under one foot. I have a tank of kribs and leopard bushfish.

Polypterus senegalus 10-12'' probably the most common and active during the day
Polypterus palmas polli 10-12'' nice pattern often sold as P.retropinnis active during the day. Those are probably the most common with P.senegalus being
sold at petsmart for$5-6.00 each

'' Polypterus spp.''means the store has no idea which species they are-Anne

You could also consider Polypterus delhezi, which does get a bit larger than a foot. Polypterus retropinnis is also an excellent choice and is one of the smallest bichirs....however, it is EXCEEDINGLY hard to get a 'real' retropinnis (as beblondie pointed out...most of the fish sold as retropinnis are actually Polypterus palmas polli).

I have profiles on Polypterus senegalus and Polypterus delhezi available here on Aquarium Advice. If you haven't already checked them....here are the links:
http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?t=21833

By the way....beblondie is quite the Polypterus expert and I must say that I'm REALLY happy to see that she found this place!!!

Hey mumbles! Amazing how a thread with "Polypterus" in the title draws the freaks like a magnet.
