Pool filter sand vs. Play sand

I use "fine" black diamond blasting sand in all my tanks and have never had an issue. One tank, I didn't rinse the sand very well so every time a cichlid moved te tank water turned gray, so I did massive water changes (after moving fish to a seperate tank) stirring up the sand every time and after 4 changes all was kosher!

Yeah there are different types. I use 20/40 which is the finer of the middle grained ones

Cool. The only stuff we use here in the shop is very fine and grey, I couldn't see me using that.

I wouldn't say it's completely unnecessary, but it's not a must.
