I've got some shifting to do. Looks like the pigeon bloods have paired and are getting fiesty to the blue diamonds and tiger turqs. Hmmm... Move the ram children to big girl, move pigeons to breeding tank.

Wouldn't it take 2 canisters unless you have one overflowing into the other?

Yes 2 ways: 1- If the tanks are side by side, use the canister intake into one tank and the return into the other and use a or multiple PVC pipes in a "U" figure to have the water siphon itself from one tank to the other. 2- If they are not right next to each other, have them both drain independently into a single sump and attach the canister to the sump or either tank for better filtration. ( You can also use the intake in one and the return in the other method but then you are relying on adjusting the returns differently so as to not overflow a tank and then you become at the mercy of the water pressure as well, which is why I don't recommend this way on a sump setup. )

Discus breeding must run in the family! It must be so cool to have a mother that bred and kept discus!

I water bridge two of my sumps...
They flow by gravity through 1 1/2" pvc.
1 single tube flows enough for my 180...

Marineland model 4 sump behind the 29g...
Marineland model 2 behind 2@29g...

Definitely will work...
Make the syphons from 1 1/2 pvc.
Both sides exactly the same length IMO
Close to bottom so you can change water and allow for evap without concern.
You can even land the syphon in a sponge on both sides to stop tank swaps...
I have a powerhead with hose that can "backwash" to cause higher head pressure and blow any bubbles out of syphons.
NEVER lost one syphon without it breaking the waters surface..
