This is how I fixed the grinding noise on my Aquatech 5-15. It should also fix some of the larger models also.

Here I have some

Superglue
Pliers
File
Duct Tape
Small Tee

First I noticed that there was alot of play with the impeller. It seem a bit out of balance. See that notch above the impeller, The impeller has a notch on it as well so I glued them on oppisite sides to help with the balance.

Next I cut a small piece off the tee

Then I filled down the rough edges

I took the impeller apart

I put the small piece of the tee on the bottom

It should look like this see it at the bottom

Now time for the duct tape seeing as how that piece may rattle

I put the duct tape on the bottom edge of this

Also when you go to reassemble it put the the impeller in the pick tube slightly just enough so it holds on. If it starts to make that grinding noise again you may have to move the bottom of the impeller around little bit it maybe left or right or back or forth. Which ever way so it stops grinding.

This may work for you it or may not it but it worked for me. So try it.
