Pufferfish.

I went to check out some pufferfish today and i saw some dwarf pufferfish in with some green spotted puffers, what's up with that? I also so a strange looking pufferfish. It was a green spotted puffer i think, but it didnt really look like the others. It's spots were huge, so big that it only had a few of them. It also was a darker shade of green too.

LFS's always miss-identify puffers and they don't know how to take care of them either. I don't recognize the decsription of the one with larger spotts and dark green. You may want to see if you can find it on

I'm no puffer expert but I believe when young, the puffers can be kept in fw but will need to be acclimated to brackish water over time. The other dark green puffer might have been a figure 8 puffer?

It wasn't a figure 8 it was about an inch long and didnt look anything like a figure 8. They weren't mislabeled either It said Dwarf puffer and Green spotted puffer. They were in the same tank. I couldnt find the puffer i saw at all on that list either.

I don't know then. Although, my dwarf puffer is alot greener and less spotted than some I've seen so perhaps it's just a color variation. He was actually alot lighter when I got it some months ago. Just grasping at straws. lol Sorry I can't help.
