90 gal. tank.
My no3 stays at 10 ppm w/o dosing.
How much does the fish bio load effect the amount of no3 present in the tank ?

My fish are:
15 danios
8 catfish.. emeralds and corys
5 otos
3 common hatchets
3 bal sharks
1 wagtail platy
1 angel
1 parrot

It sounds like a lot of fish, but they're all relatively small except for the angel and eventually the parrot.

Thx,

dave

I'm not sure of the formula, but the logic is that if you have a decent bio-load for a continuous 10ppm of NO3, you don't have to dose it.

I have a 75 gal with about 30 fish in it. All of them except the angels are under or at 2", so I have to dose NO3 almost weekly.

My 36 has 2 angels and 7-8 small tetras, and two large upside down cats. I have to dose nitrates or my readings go almost to zero, I think it also depends on the number and type of plants you have.

Right now your tank must be in good balance nitrate wise. I am sure it will change as the plants anf fish grow.

OK dumb question here, how do you dose the N03 to get it up to 10 ppm? My cichlid tank pretty much stays at 5 ppm as there aren't enough fish in there yet/
