Can they survive in a competitive tank, like in a tank with fish that go right after the food when i drop it in? do they scavange?

I don't know about hogfish, but flounders (which are brackish, no matter what anyone says) are preditors. They would like nothing more than to sneak up on unsuspecting prey and eat it. However, if you are feeding live foods, it will get eaten by the other fish. I feed my flounders frozen foods, but the once the food gets past the Celebes, bb gobies are there only competition. I watch the tank closely to ensure the flounders get some food.

well i do have salt in my tank for them, and my baby goby, and my ctenopoma.

Ok, ill throw some frozen food in there, and see if they take the bait... they seem to just stick them selfs to the glass all the time
