I use KCl in my planted tank and want to add 6 to 8 Neocaridina denticulata (aka Minami Numa Ebi or Taiwan Shrimp). I have heard that you need to add Iodine when keeping shrimp. I've also heard that KCl is harmful to shrimp. My questions are: Is Iodine needed with these shrimp? and Is Potassium Chloride harmful to these shrimp?

Hiya sjogren1 and welcome to Aquariumadvice :)

I use iodine with my cherrys in my planted tank; 1 drop every week although I have read I should be using more. I just worry bout the fish so I tried to find a happy medium. Don't know about the potassium; its part of the ferts I use, but I doubt I'm adding that much.

Thank you for both the assistance and the welcome, most appreciated. What size tank are you adding the 1 drop to? Which Iodine product are you using?

Tis a 10g planted tank, and I add one drop of Kent marine Tech-1.
