Redoing 35 gallon tank

Hi,

I'm redoing my freshwater tank. I have 3 boesman rainbow fish And an archer fish. I hav been looking at other rainbow fish,killi fish and dwarf chiclids. Any suggestions willing to buy online. I am also interested in adding more live plants. right now I just hav some basic java fern I am willing to get new lighting. Any suggestions

Also thinking of changing from sand to gravel. What's cleaner and what's better for plants. I heard there's a type of snail that cleans the sand?
