Replacement tubing for Eheim canister

I got my Eheim 2217 but noticed there is only about 3 feet of the 1/2" (or 12mm/16mm as they call it) outflow tubing. I will look at a couple LFS for it, but don't remember seeing any Eheim products there, so if they don't carry the tubing, can I just get some 1/2" tubing at Lowe's or Home Depot? Is it just vinyl tubing, or is it something else?

I got the tubing for my Rena canister filter at Home Depot. Its 5/8" ID hose and it was like $7.50 for 10'.
