About once a week I buy some Rosy Reds to feed my Oscars and my Blood Parrot.

I normally put a new batch in a 10 gallon tank first, for about a week, just to make sure they seem healthy.

Anyway.....

I have one tank with 6 tiger barbs, a Pleco, and a Blood Parrot.
About 6 weeks ago, I added a small Rosy Red for the BP to eat.
Well the BP never ate it.

So the Rosy Red stayed, and grew large quickly. It wasn't long before the Rosy Red was chasing the Tiger Barbs around. I thought it was pretty cool that the smaller RR was showing it's dominance, because Tiger Barbs are pretty aggressive themselves, but this RR was king/queen.

Then yesterday I noticed the RR trying to nip the fins of the BP, and then I realized the Tiger Barbs were M.I.A. So I started trying to locate them.
Half were hiding among the rocks and plastic plants. While the other three were hidden way up by the filter outtake. And I SWEAR they were shivering.

The RR had become the ruler of the tank, and my happy tranquil tank had become a place of stress. And I would have hated for my BP to lose any fin pieces. Although, he/she would chase the RR if provoked.

What to do?

After all, I had come to enjoy the Rosy Red.

But I think my small Tiger Oscar enjoyed him more.
