Rubber band in fish tank ? Is it ok ?

So I got this plant for free . I think itís a coontail. I like to tie the plant to a rock with rubber bands ? But I donít know if rubber bands are good enough in a fish tank

Iíve used rubber bands with no problems. Iíve had one in tank for a few months now on a piece of equipment.
