Depends on what cichlids we're talking about. Rams, discus and angels come from very clean water with very little TDS and salt could be VERY harmful to them. Rift lake Africans on the other hand come from very hard water with a high mineral content so it would be okay for them. Can you be more specific on the type of cichlid??
