Will aquarium salts give false test readings?

What readings are we talking about? I believe salt can effect hardness/alkalinity, but if your asking about nitrates/nitrites/ammonia, it does not. What are you testing the water with. If your using a binding water conditioner like prime that can give you a false positive if you test shortly after using it.

Fritz zyme 7 & stress zyme are the only things ive added to the tank. Along with filter pad from other tank to jumpstart things. Testing with API freshwater master kit.

Hmm, that is a mystery to me then. I would do a PWC and retest.

My motto: if in doubt = PWC
