If I get sand, will it be an issue with plants? I was wanting to put it in a 1 GAL HEX Biosphere ( or hex if your a stickler lol ) please tell me if sand or gravel would be better! Thank you guys!!!

1 gallon... Well sand is generally better for plants to grow in but plain silica sand or river gravel both have no nutritional value for the plants. And the only thing you could keep in 1 gallon is a Betta or 3 shrimp. My sister has maintained a beta in an unfiltered 1/2 gallon for over 6 months now, but she does biweekly complete water changes and daily half water changes. Good luck.

As long as you put root tabs in it if you have root feeders, sand is fine. I use it in all my tanks. You could put organic potting mix under it to help as well.

I'd do a shrimp or snail tank.
1 gallon is OKAY for a betta, but not recommended, must keep up with 2-3x weekly water changes, but enough plants could reduce it down to weekly.
