Sand or Gravel

I was wondering if you could use sand in a FW tank and it still be has clean, safe and fun as a regular gravel. Would it be too much work? I'm thinking it would be a 20 gl. community tank or so.

Sand will work fine. Search the forums for this topic it has come up a lot recently.

Yes sand will work in freshwater tanks. It's all I use. The only extra work is at the initial setup of the tank. You have to wash the sand more than gravel. But besides that, I think it's easier.
