When i vacuum sand, will all the sand get sucked up as well? How long until the water clears up? If i put in a filter with the cloudy water, will the filter break?

I put the vacuum about 1 inch to 1.5 above sand so it don't suck it up don't run a filter until you get all the free floating sand to settle cause they will get sucked into the filter and mess up the impeller

My fine white sand gets sucked up but that's because I disturb the sand as I vac. The coarser sand (which I clean as I would gravel) goes part way up the nozzle before falling back down minus debris. I tried the hovering thing- I just wasn't getting enough stuff out that way. It may depend on the vac being used- how much suction, how long the nozzle is etc

Yea I have caribsea sand so its super fine if I clean it like I do my gravel tanks I wouldn't have any sand
