Whee! I went today and bought three more rainbows (and three blue dwarf gouramis ) bringing the rainbow total up to 9 and they are schooling! They follow the gouramis around as well as heading off on their own, finally exploring the upper reaches and the middle swim-zone.

Thank you all for the help.

Congrats. Glad to hear that more made the difference.

Thank you! I was amazed at what a quick difference it made. And I bought the smallest little males they had. :)

Awesome! I bet the school is really stunning! They are beautiful fish. :)

They really are. They seem to be following the blue dwarf gouramis around and have lightened up quite a bit. They had gone from a light blue/white in the LFS to an almost grey, dark teal in my tank. :( Now, they're between the two extremes and I'm not sure that the difference isn't due to lighting and background.

Ah, happy fish. :)

Cool! I am glad they started schooling!! Gratz :)

I love it when you add more...and they find each other and start swimming together.

I always call my husband in when I add new fish to a school--it's a beautiful sight!
